One of the unusual things to do in Pangong Lake is to take a dip in its cold and brackish waters. Usually, tourists leave Pangong Tso after sunrise as they have to reach Leh before sunset. Before doing so, take a dip in the lake. Yes, it sounds crazy, and you would be crazy enough to try it.
The best time to visit Pangong Tso Lake is during the months of summer i.e from May to September as weather during winter is extreme and lake would be frozen making the place less enjoyable for tourists. Kalka is the nearest railway station to Leh. Buses or taxis can be hired to reach Manali via Shimla. There are regular taxis and bus services from Manali to Leh.

Pangong Tso can be reached after a a five-hour drive from Leh. From Leh, one passes through the Changla Pass and then through Tangste. There are regular bus services run by state road transport corportation (J&KSRTC). Taxis can be hired from Leh to the Pangong Lake. Motorbikes, cars and jeeps are also available at reasonable rates. Make sure to fill fuel at Leh and also carry extra fuel, as there are no petrol stations near Pangong Tso
